How to choose

Which credit card is right for you?

  1. Know where you spend most

Look at your last 3 months of expenses — groceries, food delivery, fuel, online shopping, or travel. Pick a card that rewards your top 1–2 categories.

  2. Weigh fees against benefits

A ₹1,000 annual fee is worth it if you earn ₹5,000+ in cashback or lounge visits. Many cards also waive the annual fee once you cross a spend threshold.

  3. Check your eligibility

Every card has minimum income and credit score requirements. Applying only for cards you qualify for protects your credit score from unnecessary hard inquiries.

  4. Read the MITC

Check the Most Important Terms & Conditions for reward caps, excluded categories (like rent, wallet loads, or government payments), and lounge spend criteria.

Annual fee

Yearly renewal charge from the 2nd year onwards, usually waived on meeting annual spend targets.

Finance charges

Late payment fee

₹100 to ₹1,300 depending on the unpaid statement balance if minimum due isn't paid on time.

Forex markup

1.5% – 3.5% on international transactions (0% on select travel cards).

Use it smartly

5 smart tips to manage your credit card

Pay the full bill, not the minimum

Paying only the minimum due (usually 5%) keeps your account active, but you lose the interest-free period and pay 36%–45% annual interest on the remaining balance.

Keep utilisation under 30%

If your credit limit is ₹1,00,000, try to keep your monthly statement under ₹30,000. Lower credit utilisation boosts your credit score.

Use the 45–50 day interest-free window

Big purchases made right after your statement generation date get up to 50 days of interest-free credit before the payment is due.

Never withdraw cash from an ATM

Credit card cash advances attract a 2.5%–3% fee immediately and start accruing daily interest from the moment of withdrawal.

Don't apply everywhere

Each credit card application triggers a hard enquiry on your credit report. Check eligibility first and apply only to 1–2 cards that fit your profile.

Do's

  • Choose a card that matches your lifestyle
  • Review your statement every month
  • Pay on time, every time: set up autopay
  • Spend within what you can repay
  • Use the interest-free period to your advantage

Don'ts

  • Pay only the minimum amount due
  • Go over your credit limit
  • Delay or miss payments
  • Close your oldest card without thinking it through
  • Treat your limit as extra income
