Frequently Asked Questions

A GST Calculator is an online tool that calculates the Goods and Services Tax amount on a product or service. Enter the price and GST rate, and it instantly returns the tax amount and the total price, saving time and reducing manual calculation errors.

Multiply the original price by the GST rate and divide by 100. For example, GST on ₹500 at 18% is ₹90, making the total price ₹590. To remove GST from an inclusive price, use the formula: Original Price = Total Price × 100 ÷ (100 + GST Rate).

India has four main GST rate slabs: 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Some essential goods may attract 0% GST, while luxury and certain specified goods attract higher rates. Most services and many electronics are taxed at 18%. GST rates may change following GST Council decisions.

A GST-exclusive price is the base amount before GST is added. A GST-inclusive price already includes GST. Use this calculator to switch between both. Enter the inclusive amount and select Remove GST to find the original base price.

For intra-state transactions, GST is generally split equally between CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST). For inter-state transactions, IGST (Integrated GST) is charged at the applicable full GST rate. The total GST rate remains the same in both cases.

This calculator applies the standard GST calculation formula and is suitable for most common product and service calculations. However, certain goods and services may have specific GST rules, cess applicability, exemptions, or composition scheme provisions. Consult a tax professional for complex or sector-specific transactions.
