Frequently Asked Questions

A GST Calculator is an online tool that calculates the Goods and Services Tax amount on a product or service. Enter the price and GST rate, and it instantly returns the tax amount and the total price, saving time and reducing manual calculation errors.

Multiply the original price by the GST rate and divide by 100. For example, GST on ₹500 at 18% = ₹90, making the total ₹590. To remove GST from an inclusive price, use: Original Price = Total × 100 ÷ (100 + GST Rate).

India has four main GST rate slabs: 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Essential goods attract 0%, while luxury and sin goods fall under 28%. Most services and electronics are taxed at 18%. Rates may change following GST Council decisions.

A GST-exclusive price is the base amount before tax is added. A GST-inclusive price already includes the tax. Use this calculator to switch between both, enter the inclusive amount and select "Remove GST" to find the original base price.

For intra-state transactions, GST is split equally between CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST). For inter-state transactions, a single IGST (Integrated GST) is charged at the full rate. The total tax burden is the same in both cases.

This calculator applies the standard GST formula and is accurate for most product and service categories. However, certain goods have specific GST rules, cess applicability, or composition scheme rates. Consult a tax professional for complex or sector-specific transactions.
